The Battle of Jutland - where my Grandfather, Admiral Sir John Jellicoe, commanded the British Grand Fleet - is my passion.

I have just finished writing Jutland. The Unfinished Battle. The book explores the context of the battle and its impact. It will be published March 2016, in time for the May 31st Centenary of the battle. Jutland1916.com, which has a wealth of supporting materials, has also just been launched.

2016 will see a number of exhibitions and commemorations including Greenwich, Portsmouth, Wilhelmshaven, Scapa Flow and, of course, Belfast where HMS Caroline, the only surviving ship from the battle, has been undergoing major renovations. There will be a host of accompanying events and projects - concerts, conferences, films and educational initiatives. In June 2016 the Jutland Memorial Park will open in Thyborøn Denmark right next to the new Sea War Museum which has already had an extensive exhibition on the First World War at Sea (Go to my site for details).

I am married to a Peruvian, naturalised American, Patricia, and have two wonderful daughters, Zoë and Francesca. Zoë's an accomplished editor while Francesca has been studying classical chinese and Asian & Middle Eastern Art and Archeology in China and London.

I wanted to be a photo-journalist but was lured to New York to work in advertising instead. I've worked with some great companies - Rolex, Bvlgari and American Express - to name a few. I grew up in the UK and studied politics at York University and at the "Institut des Etudes Politiques" in Paris. My continued study of (very rudimentary, unfortunately, HSK 2) Chinese reflects my college and family interests in China.
